Lips

For today's lesson we were asked to do different lip looks. We had to do a natural lip, red lip and dark lip and  afterwards we were free to play around with other textures and colours.

Product list:

  • foundation
  • Illamasqua translucent powder
  • Illamasqua primer
  • kryolan concealer cube in ~
  • brush kit
  • different lip stick colours
  • lipgloss/ MAC lip mix medium /matte/shine
  • lip pencils (optional)
  • glitter/gems or other decorations for lips
  • eyebrow kit and gel
  • lip balm; lip scrub

Steps:
  • first off all make sure the face is clean and do your normal face routine( cleanse, tone, moisturize)
  • then apply primer and prep skin for the foundation
  • NOTE: First off all I worked on myself as my skin is quite bad(very dry) at the moment and my lips are especially dry( and split and bleeding) so I didn't want anyone to work on me. Also as my skin is so dry , I decided not to apply and foundation. I only concealed the area around my lips slightly
  • apply foundation and conceal where it is necessary
  • for a nice overall look you could also do the eyebrows
  • prepping the lips->depending on the lips condition you could do a lips scrub before you put anything on the skin to get rid off any dry skin; then apply lip balm
  • now you can apply the colour of lipstick you chose; when doing the red lip you could also use a red lip pencil to start with but that of course is personal preference (I didn't bring in any lip pencils that day so I only used lipsticks
  • after creating a nice lip take a picture and take the lipstick off; if needed re.conceal the lip area and use a different colour (as well as adding glitter or gems or make it glossy)

Natural Lip

Red Lip

Dark Lip

Nude Lip

Glitter Lip

Bright Orange Lip

Bright Violet Lip

Orange/Pink Lip

Some thoughts on the images. As you can see I sometimes used different filters when taking the pictures which made me quite pale but therefore the lip colours looked much more intense, for example the dark lip. Also when taking pictures of the glitter lips I also had to chnage the filter as the blue glitter came across quite green with the normal settings. I also noticed that bright lip colours( more like neon direction; the orange, purple and orange and pink mixed one) don't suit me at all! It was horrendous :D :D Not but really , usually I wear darker colours or matte reds and I do like dark purples but the bright tones are definitely a no go for me. I would probably very different if I would be more tanned and also maybe if the colours would have been matte it would have looked different as well. Apart from the fact that my lips were sore and it's absolutely no fun to put anything on sore lips , the lesson was quite fun and interesting just to play around with colours and textures.

Adding Accessories to a Chignon

Product List:

  • sectioning clips
  • paddle brush
  • pin tail comb
  • hair gribs
  • hair elastics
  • u-shaped gribs
  • accessories
  • hair spray if needed
  • curling tong

Plain Chignon:

Steps:
  • take side parting section until just behind the ear->you can braid or twist those sections later
  • back: comb down the hair and do a low ponytail; the ponytail should be nice and secure
  • if the the ponytail is too high up it will look more oriental
  • section off the top of the ponytail and comb back this section
  • turn ponytail up and over and secure with gribs on both top sides
  • put your fingers inside the bun and stretch out from the middle
  • use u-shaped gribs and secure the sides-> remember go in and over with the hair grib
  • front:twist or braid the front sections and take them back and put them over the top of the Chignon and secure it tightly-> make sure to hide the gribs well
  • you can add some hair spray now if needed

Adding accessories to a Chignon:

  • after doing the plain Chignon you can add some accessories like jewels, necklaces, lace, flowers, etc
  • remember if the jewels you are using are too heavy, place some padding inside the Chignon so it won't succumb under the weight

Wedding Style:
  • for the last version we kept the side front sections but changed the back
  • back: in a kind of u-shape leave a section along the hairline at back and sides out
  • divide the rest of the hair at the back into two ponytails

  • starting with the lower ponytail, section off some strands and curl them with a curling tong
  • take the curls and pin them down-> think about shaping and placement
  • do the same with the upper ponytail and the leftover section along the hairline
  • place all those curls nicely

  • then I took some parts of the front sections off curled them and placed the curls near/in front of the upper ponytail
  • I was left with a small strand of hair on each side->here I only curled the ends and placed them at the sides between the curls

  • after checking that the curls and the placement are how I wanted it to be, I added some flowers which made it look very wedding like

-> I enjoyed this lesson a lot as I am now more confident at doing elegant hairstyles like the Chignon or even simple wedding like hairstyles like you could see in the last images.

Eyebrows

In today's lesson we had to create 3 different eyebrow looks on at least 3 people.
The first look would be how the person you are working on would normally do their eyebrows, the second look how we would do them and the last one is a S/S 2016 eyebrow look.

First Person: Amelia:
Before:

1. Amelia normally only fills in her natural eyebrow shape, but less at the front

2. for my version I decided to fill in the eyebrows a bit more especially at the front

3. For the S/S 2016 inspired look I decided to do brushed up eyebows

Feedback: Amelia was satisfied with how I did her normal eyebrows

Second Person: Nancy

Before:

1.just fills in her eyebrows with the same colour as her natural eyebrow colour

2. For my version I used a slightly darker colour and made the arch standing out more

3. For the S/S 2016 look I just an even darker colour and applied the pigment a bit messily on her eyebrows. Afterwards I also brushed the eyebrows up

 Wild eyebrows :)

Third Person: Georgia

Before:

1. when Georgia does her normal eyebrows they are quite defined, thicker, darker and very arched (those typical trendy eyebrows at the moment)

2. I decided to tone down her eyebrows a bit and make them less dark and defined

3. For S/S'16 I decided to do bleached eyebrows. Obviously I couldn't actually bleach her eyebrows so I used white supercolour with a tiny bit of yellow and brushed it through her eyebrows. Unfortunately in the images it is not as light as I wanted the eyebrows to be.

Feedback: Georgia was happy how I did her 'normal' eyebrows. She said she would have done it the same .
